Since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated with nature, people and faces in particular. At the age of nine I started painting with oils, then I moved to charcoal, chalk, watercolors and finally acrylics -not your ordinary path of development, I know, but then again, I’m not your ordinary kinda gal. Today I very much enjoy nature, gardening and hands-on expressionistic art.
I graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas with a major in Communications Design and a minor in Photography. Through the Technology department I found my love for photography. The darkroom with it’s creative possibilities fascinated me. Today I mainly work with digital images, which have a lot more possibilities and eliminate all the smells as well as the long wait in the darkroom.
After almost 9 years of being a full time Mom, my creative juices are craving to surface again, as they have every so often. I have been doing some freelance work throughout the years, which ranges anywhere from painting childrens rooms with giant dinosours to bakery trucks that needed logos painted on them, from brochure and logo design to photographing merchandise, weddings, the members of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in San Marcos, as well as lots of little people and families, big and small. My goal is to increase my workload ever so slightly, now that my kids are becoming more and more independent.
My main subjects are parents to be, babies and children, families, couples - young & older - . To capture a childs innocent and unspoiled spirit, the love of a young family, or the familiarity of a seasoned couple on my camera is very satisfying to me. I also enjoy being at informal weddings (between 50 - 200 people). Informal, because I like the atmosphere, brides are usually more relaxed as are the mothers. The casual, relaxed feel is what I enjoy the most. My favorite pictures are those that aren’t posed, they are snapshots, happy memories of a moment in time, captured to be treasured for all eternity.
I would be honored and humbled if you gave me the opportunity to capture those eternal moments for you so you may cherish them forever.
